Design Notes
O & Co enjoyed a long-standing partnership with this discerning client, collaborating over 3 years to thoughtfully evolve their kitchen space in this stunning Cotswolds home.
The project began with a magnificent handmade 10-seater, solid European Oak dining table & bench, establishing itself as the heart of the kitchen.
During a sensitive refurbishment, a wall was removed to create space for a new kitchen island, providing a supplementary cooking zone for use when the AGA was not in season. We took this opportunity to restore and refresh existing cabinetry and replaced work surfaces. Swaledale Marble, from Derbyshire's historic Once a Week Quarry, was chosen for its remarkable provenance and captivating fossil features, a story millions of years old.
Later, we incorporated cleverly designed cutlery & crockery storage, seamlessly integrated into a discreet nook and added convenient pull-out handmade baskets, perfect for gathering fresh produce from the clients’ vegetable garden & greenhouse.
Shaker wall panelling added a final touch of classic elegance and solid walnut floating shelves were strategically placed to showcase the client's collection of ceramics and art.
This project exemplifies how living in a space prior to renovation can lead to exceptional design and a forever home.
